unnecessary vandalism causes heartache for hope nature centre

On the morning of the 29th June, Hope Nature Centre was victim to vandals. As well as damage caused around the park, they also put the lives of our three Dexter Cows at risk by damaging our perimeter fence and letting the cows out onto the Southwick Country Park. We are pleased to report that the animals were returned to the park without injury.

We pride ourselves in being a community facility, but as a charity, our budget for repairs is small. Our finances are currently under huge pressure due to the lengthy closure and subsequent restrictions on re-opening due to COVID-19. Needless and unnecessary costs takes funding away from our core task of providing a safe training environment for our students and trainees who suffer from a range of learning difficulties.

Our #HelpHope donation page is still active, which we used during the COVID-19 closure to help support us. We now find ourselves in a sad position, where we have got to fund the repairs of our Animal Park. You can find out more and help support our charity here – https://localgiving.org/donation/fairfieldfarmtrust

We have a number of wildlife cameras and also CCTV within the Animal Park, and we are co-operating with the Police to try and ascertain who was responsible for this unnecessary act of vandalism. We have also had conversations with our contacts at Wiltshire Council and Wiltshire Police. There have been a number of reports of antisocial behaviour in the area over recent months. If you notice any such behaviour, or have further information on who may be responsible, please report it to the Police on 101.
