Volunteering

The work of our Volunteers has a huge impact on our organisation and is vital to our continued success.

Whether you want to make a positive difference to other people, to learn new skills, meet new people or just to boost your CV then we have a number of opportunities on offer. Some of the ways in which a little of your time will help Hope Nature Centre are listed below.

Many of the roles require contact with both the public including families with young children and our service users. Persons volunteering for these roles will need to provide references and will require a criminal record check (DBS).

Individuals can just turn up and help clear some shrubs, paths, or do some painting, or cage building, or if you are a larger group we can organise a work party just for you to come along and join in the fun.

We need volunteers to help man our Ticket Office which operates 7 days a week all year round, from 10am to 4pm with two shifts (10am to 1pm) and 1pm to 4pm.

The role will require some experience of dealing with the general public, money handling and general admin. This role would suit a retired or person looking to volunteer in a sedentary role.

Looking for green fingered volunteers or those happy to learn about gardening and help out with gardening and grounds maintenance. Any assistance from a few hours a week to full shifts available.

Hope Nature Centre has 15 acres of animal park which need maintaining together with greenhouses and growing areas. Assistance with planting, weeding, maintaining grounds. We are looking for volunteers to help out with ongoing works and special projects.This is an outdoor role and a degree of fitness is required.

 

We are looking for someone with a few spare hours in half term and school holidays to drive their Land Train in the Animal Park. Any assistance from a few hours a week to full shifts available.

If you can drive a car, you can drive our Train and help us fund raise and provide lots of fun to lots of people. This role will require someone with a driving license.

Assistants required to help out in the Hope Nature Centre Animal Park - working with animals and maintaining the park. Any assistance from a few hours a week to full shifts available.

The role would include caring for the animals, cleaning out and feeding, keeping animal areas safe, site maintenance (clearing pathways and assisting with repairs and maintenance when required). This is an outdoor job - an amount of physical work and fitness is required.

Assistants required for busy tearooms. Taking orders, serving food, clearing tables, washing up.

The tearooms at Hope Nature Centre serve food from 8.30am until 4pm and are particularly busy through the school holidays with families visiting the Animal Park, together with a steady flow of customers who come up to enjoy our famous home cooked meals. The job is indoors but busy so would suit someone mobile.
